Eric Lesser has been with Green Products for 2 years and this will be his 1st Driving Competition!
GPC: How long have you been driving truck?
Eric: 12 years. I have always had an interest in trucks. I remember as a kid going on family vacations we would always travel by car. I was always fascinated with watching the trucks go by.
GPC: And this is your first driving competition?
Eric: Yeah, this will be my first time competing and I'm starting to get a little nervous. I'm not sure what to expect.
GPC: Have you done anything specifically to train for the event?
Eric: Yes, I have been trying to get into the correct mindset of paying close attention to how the truck reacts in certain situations. When I am unloading, I get out of the truck and see how close I got to the dock. I have been using every trip as a training opportunity to mentally prepare and focus.
GPC: We have two other drivers in the event this year. What's the vibe like in the team?
Eric: Great! All three of us are driving in different classes - so there isn't much competition between us. I think we will have a great time!
GPC: We're all looking forward to the event. Let's swich gears and talk about you. Which routes do you like to drive the best?
Eric: I like driving in the Pacific Northwest in the summer and the Southeast in the winter.
GPC: Any advice for up-and-coming drivers?
Eric: Be aware of your surroundings on the road and know your vehicle to help keep you safe. Plan ahead so there are no surprises along the way. Embrace the technology, but don't necessarily rely on it 100%. Don't get in a hurry - slow and steady wins the race. Remember that you are always visible. Being polite and courteous to others on the road will get you a long way.
We wish Eric and the rest of the Green Team the best of luck in the Truck Driving Championships!
